Description
Legal Secretary
The Essentials
- 3 or more years of legal secretarial experience
- Your first 90 days will be in the office. We offer a hybrid schedule following your probationary period where employees enjoy 2 remote days a week
The Job
You are the operational backbone of a busy litigation team supporting our commercial litigation, product liability, and personal injury defense practice. The attorneys you support will rely on you to keep filings correct, calendars accurate, and deadlines visible before they turn into problems.
You will draft, format, proofread, and redline pleadings, correspondence, and memoranda; prepare e-filings in state and federal courts; calendar depositions, productions, hearings, and trials; coordinate travel; process new client and matter intake, bills, and expense reports; and enter and review timekeeper time for accuracy.
Additional hours are occasionally required during trial weeks and major filing deadlines.
What We Look For
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred
- Working knowledge of state and federal e-filing systems, court rules, and calendaring requirements
- Excellent written communication, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and familiarity with legal terminology
- Fast, accurate document production under deadline pressure
- Thorough knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint
- The habit of spotting calendaring conflicts and deadline risks before anyone raises them, and bringing them forward with a proposed solution
- Ability to set priorities, work independently and on a team, and respond to changing demands
Compensation and Benefits
Salary DOE. Medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D, and short- and long-term disability coverage. Health savings account with monthly employer contribution on the high-deductible plan. 401(k) with employer match. Hybrid schedule after your first 90 days. Generous paid time off.
