Description
The Senior Workplace/Litigation Paralegal provides remote legal support to the Workplace Legal team (employment advice, counsel, and compliance) and the Workplace Legal Litigation team. This role handles all aspects of employment-related disputes, investigations, audits, settlements, and workplace compliance policies. The position performs paralegal work including data tracking, budget management, litigation reporting to the General Counsel and Board, drafting and reviewing legal documents (settlement agreements, policies, correspondence), following up on potential litigation, and conducting legal research—all under attorney supervision. Additionally, this role supports other departments on minor legal issues, all via remote collaboration tools.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution Support (Remote)
- Provide virtual support for all litigation/dispute resolution tasks: status updates via email/Slack, coordinating remote meetings (Zoom/Teams), scheduling witness interviews via video conference, managing information flow using shared drives/case management software.
- Draft and initiate litigation holds using digital hold tools (e.g., Office 365 Preservation, Litigation Hold software).
- Conduct legal research using online databases (Westlaw, Lexis, Practical Law).
- Coordinate discovery remotely: manage e-discovery platforms (Relativity, Everlaw, Logikcull), review and produce documents from home.
- Generate reports from matter management systems; gather personnel files via secure HRIS or remote file requests.
- Manage and review subpoena requests; draft subpoena responses for attorney review.
- Docket all relevant deadlines in litigation, compliance, investigations, and audits using cloud-based docketing software (e.g., Legal Tracker, Clio, or internal systems).
Document Drafting & Review
- Prepare drafts of routine legal documents remotely: subpoena responses, standard employment templates (offer letters, separation agreements), correspondence, company policies, settlement agreements, etc.
- Use document comparison and redlining tools (e.g., Litera, Workshare, or Word track changes) for attorney review.
**Project Management & Knowledge Base Maintenance**
- Support Workplace Legal attorneys with project management via remote tools (Asana, Trello, Monday.com, or Smartsheet).
- Maintain a cloud-based knowledge base of employment templates, guidance documents, and historical reference files (e.g., SharePoint, Google Drive, NetDocuments).
- Assist other departments with routine legal requests under attorney supervision via ticketing system or email.
Vendor & System Management
- Oversee and negotiate vendor relationships remotely (litigation hold providers, e-discovery platforms, matter management systems, billing software).
- Provide reporting and metrics on employment and litigation portfolios using data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) or system exports.
**Budget & Legal Reserves**
- Oversee remote billing process with outside counsel: review invoices via electronic billing software, enforce billing guidelines, and manage budgeting workflows.
- Support the Director, Workplace Legal, in preparing and managing the yearly professional services budget.
- Track and report on legal reserves for employment claims.
**Legal Research & Special Projects**
- Conduct employment law research (statutes, regulations, case law) remotely.
- Track employment claims for insurance reporting.
- Evaluate and onboard new vendors (e-discovery, process servers, expert witnesses) via virtual demos and contracts.
